Podgórze
Site of the former Jewish Ghetto, sprawling Podgórze is dotted with memorials to Krakow’s Holocaust history, including the Pharmacy Under the Eagle museum and an art installation of metal chairs on Ghetto Heroes Square. Said to be the burial site of the city’s founder, the grassy Krakus Mound is a popular hangout spot and provides views of the surrounding area.
Podgórze (German: Josefstadt) is a district of Kraków, Poland, situated on the right (southern) bank of the Vistula River, at the foot of Lasota Hill.
Podgórze was a city across the Vistula river until 1795. The Nazis created a ghetto here where all the Jews from Kraków were placed during WW2.
